The Oracle Of Ammon
Japan, 1999  TV

TV-series Reign: The Conqueror (アレクサンダー戦記)

Directed by Yoshinori Kanemori

The Oracle of the Egyptian Temple of Ammon meets with Alexander who foretells many things that will come to pass for Alexander. The Oracle tells Alexander he will be the king of the world. The Oracle also reveals that Alexander will be killed by the person closest to him.

Episode 9 from the animated television series "Reign - The Conqueror" (アレクサンダー戦記 or "Alexander Senki"). This series, based on a novel by Hiroshi Aramata, is a re-imagination of the life of Alexander the Great with a futuristic science fiction twist and a dash of homoeroticism. It has Alexander with piercing blue eyes and flowing brown hair, shape-changing sorcerors, terrifying monsters, awesome futuristic weaponry and Aristotle who sports blue makeup and a red half-mohawk. The 13-part anime version was already created in 1999 in japan, but it took until 2003 to reach 'the west'. Director Yoshinori Kanemori was also responsible for an earlier Japanese movie version about the life of Alexander in 2000 which confusingly had the same title as this series.
