TV-series The Red Skelton Hour

Red Skelton, Martha Raye

Sketch from an episode of "The Red Skelton Hour", a popular television comedy show that ran for almost two decades from the early 1950s through the early 1970s. Red Skelton's guest star in this episode is Martha Raye. Capitalizing on the publicity surrounding the yet-to-be-released Elizabeth Taylor version of Cleopatra, the sketch casts Martha as an aggressively amorous Queen of the Nile, who carries a torch for the sublimely indifferent Roman slave Nauseous. See also the 1954 sketch "King Putt".
