Retired special forces officer Roy is trapped in a never-ending time loop on the day of his death. Towards the end it appears Roy is caught up in the so-called 'Osiris Spindle', a time machine that allows the controller to relive events or days becoming God-like. It enables the user to be all-powerful. With the Osiris Spindle, each time Jemma brings Roy back from the dead, and Ventor is a power-hungry monster who wants to control time for his own evil purposes and who has to be battled and destroyed. In a certain way Roy embodies Osiris, his ex-wife Jemma is Isis and his opponent Colonel Ventor is Set.
Apart from the naming of the 'Osiris Spindle', the actual Egyptian references to the Osiris Myth are only suggestive and form an unnamed analogy. No actual ancient Egyptian elements for part of the storyline, are named or displayed.
