A young girl is forced by her father, a powerful priest, to marry the mentally ill prince Amenophis despite her love for a sculptor. Her father hands down a death sentence for the sculptor, but he is pardoned by the prince who happens to be his friend. The prince becomes pharaoh Akhenaten and his wife's name is changed to Nefertiti. The sculptor is commissioned to craft a bust of the queen, his true love, and they find each other again, but they cannot be together for the sake of the mental stability of the king. Her father seeks the chance to use the king's instability to take complete power. The king is pushed to suicide, Nefertiti becomes queen, while in the struggle her father is killed, and she is finally reunited with her lover.
