En Sabah Nur, a supremely powerful mutant believed to be the very first of his kind, rules ancient Egypt until he is betrayed by his worshippers, who successfully attempt to bury him alive. His four lieutenants die preserving him. Awakening in Cairo in 1983, he believes humanity has turned to "false gods" in his absence. As he aims to save the world by destruction and remake it, the X-Men must unite to defeat his plan.

Eighth film in the X-Men superhero series. Apocalypse, the ancient Egyptian mutant villain this movie, first appeared in the Marvel comics series X-Factor in 1986.
