Gidget goes to Rome
USA, 1963

James Darren, Cindy Carol, Cesare Danova
Directed by Paul Wendkos

Gidget Lawrence is a bright, perky, mature teenager. She and some of her friends are in Rome, where she meets a mysterious and handsome older Italian man who seems to be intent on helping her have a good stay. During a guided visit to the Roman forum, she is shown the spot where Cleopatra "entered the forum when she was in Rome as Caesar's concubine". In a daydream Gidget relives that moment with herself as Cleopatra, when one of her friends has to throw himself on the floor in a pool of mud to keep her feet dry while passing. In the end it appears the Italian has been retained by Gidget's father to make sure she has both a good time, and remains safe.

Third installment from a whole Gidget series of films and television movies, based on a fictional character created by author Frederick Kohner in his 1957 novel "Gidget, the Little Girl with Big Ideas".
