TV-series The Patty Duke Show

Patty Duke, William Schallert

Patty and her identical cousin Cathy's high school is putting on a lavish version of "Anthony and Cleopatra". Cathy is excited about the play and desperately wants the lead, while Patty could care less about a Shakespearean production. The director, however, decides he needs Patty's talents for the lead role, and Cathy becomes her understudy. Patty arranges for a Hollywood talent scout to view the play, but when she develops laryngitis Cathy dutifully takes her place. Patty tries to get it back after she makes a last-minute recovery.

Episode 12 from the 1960's sitcom "The Patty Duke Show" about a normal teenager called Patty Lane who lives in the Brooklyn Heights section of New York City. The Egyptian theme of this particular episode was probably inspired by the hype around Joseph L. Mankiewicz "Cleopatra" with Liz Taylor from the same year.
